Duncan Concepts Dark Briarwood is an underglaze colour made mostly for painting on bisque. These colours are glaze-based; therefore, when three coats are applied, they have a glossy sheen when fired. One, two, or three coats may be applied.

Good to know:

  • Underglazes have a versatile formula that allows for translucent designs with one coat apply 3 coats for solid coverage and a glossy sheen.
  • Non-toxic and food-safe with the application of three solid coats or when food-safe clear glaze is applied over them.
  • Only suitable for bisque.
  • Firing range - 1040-1240°C.
  • Cone 04 to Cone 6
  • We recommend firing a test piece to cone 6 to establish the colour achieved, as the colour performance will be affected by higher firing temperatures.

For best results, allow Concepts to dry completely before glazing.

  • 1-coat coverage is translucent.
  • 2-coat coverage is semi-translucent or semi-opaque.
  • 3-coat coverage is generally opaque.
  • Can be used for overall coverage.
  • Can be used for washes and watercolour technique.
