Tiranti Rabbit Skin Glue
Principally for making Gesso but has many other uses. Preparation of Gesso: the dry glue should be soaked overnight or for at least 6 hours, so that it can absorb its own sufficiency of water. When the glue is ready, it should be thinned with 9 parts water to glue by weight.
Gently heat in a double boiler (e.g. our Glue Pot) until the glue is melted; enough fine whiting should be added to make a creamy emulsion.
Paint about 8 or 10 coats of gesso on to the object, and when dry rub down with fine emery paper to achieve a smooth finish.
