Amaco Crawls Flux Crawl Brush-on Glaze
Introducing Crawls, a new cone 5/6 glaze line that will bring ceramic surfaces to life with unique, spontaneous patterns every time! Traditionally seen as a flaw - these glazes are made to embrace glaze crawl. Crawling occurs when the glaze pulls back from the surface during firing, creating a textured, uneven finish that reveals the underlying clay body or other glaze layers.
CR-17 is a glossy blush glaze designed for layering that when fired, crawls into organic shapes, adding colour variation to the underlying glaze. The result is a unique, multidimensional effect with subtle depth.
- Easy to use in a broad firing range from 1184°C to 1240°C (cone 5/6)
- These glazes can be used by themselves or layered over underglazes or other cone 5/6 glazes for dynamic effects.
- Unique - create distinctive, one-of-a-kind finishes
- Shown on White Stoneware Clay
- Always test new glazes and combination glazes.
Good to know:
- Apply 1-4 even coats of glaze to cone 04 bisque. Allow each coat to dry almost fully, but before any significant cracking occurs.
- Crawl glazes will develop hairline cracks as they dry, handle with care.
- For added durability before firing, layer over an AMACO Celadon glaze or underglaze.
- More coats create larger glaze dots, while thinner coats produce a finer bead effect. Increased coats will produce more cracks. Fire to cone 5-6 for best results.
- Non-toxic (lead-free) - These glazes are food safe when layered over AMACO Celadons.
