We are excited to launch our new P1552 Basalt Fleck clay body.

A rich buff clay which has a dense fleck is this is excellent for Throwing and hand building. This clay does have some texture to it so please bare this in mind when throwing.

The basalt within the clay which give those deep rich brown flecks melts during firing reacting with glazes that are applied over the top.

It is important to note that you will need to ensure that your kiln shelfs are protected with batt wash as the basalt can stick. We also recommend sanding the bottom of your pots if you are leaving them unglazed as the texture can sometimes be rough after firing.

  • Firing range - 1150°C -1280°C.
  • Shrinkage (w-f) 12% at 1200°C.
  • 0.25% expansion at 500°C.
  • Texture (1-smooth 10 coarse) 5.
  • Fired colour: Warm Buff.
  • 12.5kg bag.
