Charbonnel Black Gilders Clay Assiette

Charbonnel Black Gilders Clay Assiette

SKU: 517-435

Extra fine black gilders’ clay. Allows the loose gold to adhere with a very diluted size water, or spirit and water mix, as wetting agent.

Before use, mix into a solution with warm Rabbit Skin Glue (1 volume clay to 1 volume Rabbit Skin Glue). As with Gesso, several thin coats are preferable to fewer thick coats. Each coat must be thoroughly dry before painting on the next coat. Two or three onto a smooth surface are generally sufficient. Gently rub with a soft cloth before application of gold leaf. This bole makes a good surface for metallic waxes and paints.
