Colorobbia Bright Gold Lustre

Colorobbia Bright Gold Lustre

SKU: HTL2001

Add a touch of luxury with the Colorobbia Bright Gold Lustre the Lustre is available in a small glass bottle of 2 grams.

Liquid gold and metallic lustres have precious dissolved metals as their main ingredient. These lustrous overglazes can be applied by brush to glazed ware and fired according to instructions on the bottle for a truly elegant result.

Be sure to apply this paint in a well-ventilated space. Also ensure kiln area is well ventilated too, as the fumes emitted from the kiln during early stages of firing will include the spirit-based chemicals used to hold the gold in suspension in the liquid.

Colorobbia liquid golds and lustres are intended for brush-application onto already fired and glazed ceramic objects. Before firing, the objects must be left to dry for a few hours in a warm, dust-free place.

Non-toxic (lead-free)– Perfect for tableware. Please follow manufacturer instructions.

Firing temperatures recommended by Colorobbia are:

  • On Earthenware glazed ware: 690°C - 700°C, Orton cone 018
  • On Stoneware and Porcelain Glazed ware: 750°C - 815°C, Orton cone 017 – 015.
  • On Glass: 500°C - 550°C, Orton cone 022-021

Usage Tips: Need a smoother application? Add up to 3% of HTL-199 thinner to adjust consistency. Important: Always apply to fully glazed, clean, and completely dry surfaces to ensure the best results.

Application:

  • Non-toxic (lead-free)– Perfect for tableware. Please follow manufacturer instructions.
  • Colorobbia liquid golds and lustres are ready-to-use and are generally of a gluey, dark brown liquid appearance.
  • Application must always be carried out on glazed and previously fired objects, thoroughly cleaned and free from any traces of moisture. The pieces to be decorated must be well-cleaned and bone dry.
  • Use a smooth, soft brush for application. The brush must neither be too heavily laden nor too little-laden, and the layer applied must be uniform and fine (single brush stroke). Too thick a layer causes burning or clouding during the firing.
  • Gold, platinum and some lustres like copper and bronze do not need to be diluted. The other lustres can be diluted with an appropriate thinner at 10% addition. The Mother of Pearl Iris lustre needs to be diluted at 15% at least: It burns more easily than the others if applied in thick layers. Burnt MOP Iris results in a white powder and does not adhere. Precision scales are recommended when diluting to maintain the same fluidity and shade of colour.
