Tiranti Kanthal Wire
Kanthal Wire is an Iron/Chrome/Aluminium alloy used for heating elements and the like.
It has similar properties to Nichrome so can be used form armatures etc and fired at temps up to around 1200°C (although it is advisable to prepare the workpiece specially and do some experimentation first).
Kanthal wire has less issues with expansion and contraction while heating and then cooling than other wires - although it is probably wise to wrap the wire with damp tissue (as with Nichrome) prior to working the clay over the armature and keeping it damp prior to firing.
