Traditional Parian Clay
Stoneware clay is typically fired at higher temperatures between 1180°C and 1280°C and is known for its excellent plasticity, making it easier to throw, shape and handbuild. Porcelain clay, while more elastic and sometimes more challenging to work with, offers a refined and delicate appearance once fired. Despite its fine finish, porcelain is tough, non-porous and highly durable, firing at temperatures between 1250°C and 1300°C, making it ideal for functional ware as well as detailed sculptural and artistic work. You will also find stoneware and porcelain casting slips, which are liquid clay bodies created by deflocculating plastic clay for use in mould making and repeatable forms.
